KasKita — Project Scope & Architecture
KasKita — Offline-First Family Finance App
1. Problem & Context
Many personal finance apps require continuous cloud connectivity, mandatory account registrations, or third-party bank syncing that introduces unnecessary privacy concerns and subscription overhead. For household budgeting and record-keeping, families often want a straightforward, reliable tool that functions completely offline without server dependencies.
2. The Solution
KasKita is an offline-first family finance application concept built to make recording day-to-day cashflow effortless. All financial transactions, category breakdowns, and receipt attachments remain stored directly on the user's physical device.
3. Defined MVP Scope & Key Features
- Income, Expense & Transfer Tracking: Quick entries categorized by accounts (Cash, Bank, e-Wallet).
- Local Receipt & Invoice Storage: Ability to attach photo receipts stored in local app directory.
- Zero Cloud Dependencies: No mandatory logins, external servers, or network lock-in.
- Database Export & Restore: Complete SQLite database backup export to keep data safe across devices.
- Privacy First: No analytics trackers or telemetry on personal balance sheets.
4. Engineering Considerations
The MVP intentionally keeps scope tight and maintainable. Features such as OCR receipt scanning, cloud sync, and multi-user collaboration are deliberately kept out of the MVP to ensure rock-solid data integrity, fast startup times, and minimal maintenance overhead.
